National Bank / Electronic Money System – Infrastructure, Security & Compliance Leadership

This project was part of a national-level electronic payments infrastructure initiative, involving regulated financial systems and collaboration with government institutions.

I was involved in infrastructure planning, security alignment, and delivery support within a high-responsibility environment where compliance, data protection, and operational reliability were critical.

Context

The system operated within a regulated financial ecosystem, where requirements around availability, auditability, and data protection directly influenced architectural and implementation decisions.

The project required alignment with the National Center for Personal Data Protection, introducing strict constraints on data handling, storage, and system access.

Infrastructure & Procurement

A key part of my role involved working within public procurement processes for infrastructure delivery.

This included:

  • Defining and preparing specifications for server infrastructure aligned with system requirements
  • Supporting procurement through public tenders in a compliance-driven environment
  • Ensuring that infrastructure decisions met both performance and regulatory expectations

Unlike private-sector environments, infrastructure delivery required coordination across technical, procedural, and legal constraints.

System Architecture & Integration

The system was built around a PostgreSQL-based data layer supporting financial transaction flows.

Key components included:

  • Backend logic operating on structured financial data
  • Frontend interfaces handling payment-related interactions
  • Integration with transaction processing workflows within a broader financial ecosystem

My focus was on ensuring reliable integration between system components and maintaining operational consistency across the platform.

Security & Compliance

Security and compliance were central to the system design.

Key areas included:

  • Implementation of token-based mechanisms for secure communication between system layers
  • Controlled access to sensitive financial and personal data
  • Alignment with regulatory requirements related to data protection and audit readiness

In this environment, security decisions were directly tied to regulatory expectations and long-term system sustainability.

Outcome

  • Contributed to the delivery of a secure and compliant financial infrastructure component
  • Supported alignment with ISO 27001 and GDPR-related practices in a regulated environment
  • Ensured system reliability and operational readiness within a high-responsibility financial context

Insights

This project reinforced a critical principle of real-world infrastructure delivery:

In regulated environments, architecture is defined as much by constraints as by technology.

Security, compliance, and operational continuity must be embedded from the start, not added later.
