Why I Started This Journal

Why I Started This Journal

Why I Started This Journal

For most of my professional life I have been working around technology- infrastructure, security, digital platforms and complex systems that people depend on every day.

Over time I noticed that many of the interesting parts of this work rarely make it into documentation or presentations. Real systems behave differently from diagrams. Decisions are made under pressure, constraints appear where you did not expect them, and small details often determine whether something will work reliably or not.

This journal is simply a place to capture some of those observations.

Technology is obviously a big part of what I do, but it is not the only part of life. Outside of work I enjoy things that have their own form of engineering and structure- travelling, cars, mechanical systems, exploring new tools and ideas. Sometimes the best thoughts about architecture or strategy appear when you are far away from a screen.

Writing things down helps slow the process a little. It allows you to look back at projects, decisions and experiences with a bit more distance.

I do not plan to turn this into a formal blog or a stream of constant posts. It will grow gradually. From time to time I will publish notes about technology, infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems thinking, and occasionally about the small things around the work that shape how those systems are built.
